Many thanks to Owen Priestley for his excellent talk on 20th Century Typography at The Werks the other day. Owen took us through the important points in the history of type starting with pre 1900's type and Eric Gill (resposible for the legendary Gill Sans typeface), then moving through the following decades covering Modernism, Seventies designers such as Herb Lubalin (who's typefaces are featured on this very page) and nineties design rebels like the most excellent David Carson.
It was very inspiring and has led to a new obsession with FUTURA, so thanks Owen and thanks to Flash Brighton for organising it.
